MEET THE TEAM

Steph Pope
Breastfeeding Counsellor, Director & Co-Founder
Steph, a Breastfeeding Counsellor, Mindful Breastfeeding Practitioner, and mum of two, has led Kingsbridge Nurslings for over five years. She’s passionate about ensuring everyone receives the care and support they need during pregnancy and motherhood to nurture their babies and themselves, never feeling alone.

Steph herself has navigated a number of breastfeeding challenges with both her boys; including tongue tie, using nipple shields, exclusive pumping, allergies, and feeding through pregnancy, to name just a few. So if anyone knows how tricky breastfeeding can be, it's Steph! It is her two very different feeding journeys, and the struggle to access skilled support when she needed it, that gave Steph the determination to train to support others and provide essential services sp that no mum is left struggling through when it comes to feeding their baby.

Caroline Bright
Director & Co-Founder
Caroline, a mum of three grown-up children, has run Pop-In & Play at Kingsbridge Family Church for eight years and supported Kingsbridge Nurslings weekly from the start. She also helps at MotherBorn events, baking the most delicious cakes and brownies! Like Steph, she’s passionate about supporting mums when they need it most.
Laura Winser

Director & Breastfeeding Peer Supporter
Laura is a mum of two and a Sister on a busy Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. She has been a Peer Supporter since 2020 after receiving wonderful online support from Steph during covid and became one our Directors in Autumn 2025, taking over from Pennie. She is committed to promoting the well-being of local families, particularly those with kids with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities. She brings together the community through running Kingsbridge Crafters & hosting SEND events for parents.
OUR STORY

The MotherBorn Collective CIC was founded by a dedicated team of mothers and professionals - Steph, Caroline, and Pennie -who saw the real need for accessible, high-quality support in South Devon.
After the closure of the local children’s centre in 2016, families in Kingsbridge and nearby areas were left without reliable, close-to-home resources for the early stages of parenthood. We created MotherBorn to fill that gap and bring community-focused services back to the heart of Kingsbridge.
Our mission is simple: to provide every mother with the support, resources, and empowerment she deserves.
OUR VALUES
We believe every family deserves care, respect, and support, regardless of background or feeding choices.
We’re here to create a community that lifts each other up and shares in each other’s journey.
Through education, connection, and compassionate support, we empower mothers to feel confident in their own unique paths.

OUR VOLUNTEERS

She is hugely passionate about helping in our community and raising funds for worthwhile causes, such as MotherBorn.

Katie is a mum of two, and a community carer working for individuals with complex learning disabilities. She has over 15 years experience within early years settings including nurseries, pupil referral units, and local schools in varying supporting roles. Katie is keen to be involved in community projects that advocate for parents and children after receiving so much support from the family church group that Caroline ran when her children were little.
